7 Beautiful and Modern Processional Songs

By Sarah Lebo

One of the most amazing and special moments of every wedding day is the second the processional music starts playing and everyone turns to see the bride in white as she’s starring into the eyes of her soon-to-be groom.  This moment is the perfect time to choose the most beautiful and romantic song you’ve ever heard and make your ceremony truly unforgettable.

Although there are classics like Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus” and Vivaldi’s “Spring” that are still beautiful, today’s brides want something unique.  More and more brides are realizing that they want their wedding to be different than their mother’s and they also want to incorporate more of their personality through small details that make a big statement.

Here is our list of the most beautiful modern processional songs!

One song that is already becoming a classic itself, is the breathtaking instrumental, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.  Just the cello part alone gives us chills!

For the brides out there that appreciate some good Coldplay, there is the instrumental version of “Sparks”.  We picture a low-key backyard wedding with a guitarist strumming away to this unique sound.

Landon Pigg’s “Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop” is a sweet song and this piano version makes it all the more grand!

For all of you theatre junkies, this piece is a true classic from “Phantom of the Opera” but a more modern alternative to a classic processional song.  ”All I Ask of You” is a beautiful pick for a truly elegant affair.

If you’re a fan of rock than this pick is for you! Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe” is a remarkable song about appreciating the people in your life.  This slower, instrumental rendition is beautiful and may not have come across your mind when you think of processional songs, but we think it’s a lovely song.

This next song was made to be played at a wedding ceremony! And although we haven’t met anyone who quite knows the meaning behind the lyrics, the melody is entrancing, especially this instrumental version played on harp.

The last song is a beautiful classic that, surprisingly, we haven’t heard played at many wedding ceremonies. It’s one of those songs that people will compliment you on over and over again! Here’s the wonderful instrumental, “Unchained Melody”.

And that concludes our list of beautiful processional songs for the modern bride, for now!  If you have any picks that aren’t on our list, let us know!  We’d love to hear them!!

I’m planning on having your version of “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” as my wedding processional in April 2015. It’s a garden wedding and I just wanted you to know :)

I didn’t realize my processional song was so popular, but as soon as I heard it I knew it was the one! I’m walking down the aisle to the instrumental version of A Thousand Years. I heard it on Pandora a few months ago – it took my breath away!
